DIY | Springform Cake Pan Shelf

DIY | Springform Cake Pan Shelf

It always seems like summertime is when I feel the most crafty, what about you?

Maybe it’s the sunshine, the warm weather, or the childhood memories of all the crafting I did during our family trips to our campground in the states. My mom always had an endless supply of things for us to make - from cross stitch and crochet projects, to door knob hangers and birdhouses. But who am I kidding, I feel like getting creative all year-round!

There are so many DIY projects out there ranging from super easy to extremely challenging, but this one is definitely on the easier side of the spectrum. It also looks great once it’s installed, like something store-bought, which is awesome. I made this shelf for Darlene and Scott’s new kitchen by re-purposing a spring form cake pan and we hung the final product above their peninsula. It was a perfect spot for a little salt and pepper set and a succulent!

I’d never made this DIY before and was a bit nervous how it would turn out, but I was really happy with the end result and it was really easy to make. I actually ended up making another one for myself!

Here are the supplies you’ll need:

MATERIALS:

1 - spring form cake pan (I used an 11”, but you can use whatever size you prefer)

1 - 1” x 4” piece of wood, cut down to fit inside the pan

4 - 1.5” screws

1 - can of white spray paint

2 - picture hanging hardware loops

TOOLS:

1 - Drill (or screwdriver)

1 - Hammer and a nail*

*depending on the material of your cake pan, you can totally use a hammer and a nail to punch a hole for your wood shelf without having to drill any holes!

Just follow the steps in the video below and you’ll have your very own cake pan shelf in no time. Share your photos with me below or on Instagram @cyinteriordesign, I’d love to see what you make!
