OCTOBER FEELS:
SEASONAL TRANSITIONS (and a fall bucket list!):
After the highs of September and the magical transition to fall, it’s time for the gloomy, rainy weeks to set in and how I transition with this shift is something I work on each year. I find that my balance is thrown a little bit off course each time – my routines, my emotions all go a bit off kilter, and it takes me some time to get back on course. It seems like the weather change comes on so fast here in Vancouver and plays a big part in this adjustment, but I’m getting better at being one step ahead.
I’ve started implementing things to help, like the 5-second rule which prevents me from talking myself out of everything, scheduling my Philips alarm clock and Hue smart bulbs so my north-facing bedroom is nice and bright in the early hours, and putting my exercise self-care at the top of my priority list so I’m out getting fresh air daily – rain or shine. They are all helping make a difference with my day-to-day routine during this weather transition.
On top of these little tricks, though, I’ve decided that I’d like to also try another way to keep myself motivated and add that extra boost of fun this year – a seasonal bucket list!
I always feel more successful about my day when I have a to-do list to check off and I that means it would totally apply to all the fun things, right? Checklists keep the chaos of my mind organized (read: slightly more organized), make me feel accomplished throughout the day, and help keep me in check and on track.
I’ve seen quite a few fall bucket lists lately (LOVE this one and this one), and it made me think, “since I do this daily for all things work-related, why not create a seasonal to-do list full of fun things for me to accomplish?”
I’ve got a running list of activities, classes, and projects I want to accomplish in the next few months, so I’ve put them all together to create my seasonal bucket list:
Also, here are a few UPCOMING EVENTS in Vancouver that I’m looking forward to checking out:
1. Vancouver Rare Book, Photograph, and Paper Show:

Hello! Catherine here.
I’m a Vancouver-based interior designer and love all things creative! I’ll be sharing things that inspire me, posting design tips and DIY projects, chatting about all kinds of topics, and hopefully inspiring some people to make little changes at home to create an environment that is functional, beautiful, and a perfect reflection of you!
