NOVEMBER FEELS:

A time to pause, reflect, remember, and be thankful.

And here we are! The month of November seems to have crept up on me again this year, but I’ve never really taken issue with it in the past and don’t plan to this year! It just means we’re that much closer to the holidays and that gets me all sugar cookies inside. I know it’s a ways away, but I like to think of the few weeks leading up to twelfth month as a warm-up, a pre-run stretch, a greasing of the pan, if you will. It makes my heart sparkle, and who doesn’t like to feel that?

I know there are mixed feelings on the topic, but I am one of those people who can feel a holiday sparkle in the air quite early (thanks, mom!) That being said, I do like to wait until December 1st to started getting into the spirit because November is an important time of year to pause, remember, pay tribute, and be thankful.

One thing that takes a bit of time to set in for me is that there are only 2 months of the year left. And, with this year being 2019, it means there are only 2 months of the decade left. Decade. When you think of it that way, how crazy is that? It’s a lot of weeks, days, hours that have passed… and it reminds me of the importance to act. To set goals, do things I enjoy with the people I enjoy spending time with, and to take care of myself so I can continue to enjoy all these things for many more decades.

With this month’s mood board, I wanted to convey how it feels in Vancouver this time of year. It’s wet, cold, and all shades of grey and moody blue. But there are ways to find warmth, get dry, and enjoy more time indoors. Here are a few of the images I chose and what drew me to them:

The soggy leaves that fell last month cover the ground and their vibrant colours are fading. Very representative of Vancouver transitioning through seasons.Photo: Annie Spratt

Currently inspired by:

the weather, quality time with family and friend, homebody feels on a rainy day
fresh, earthy, coastal scents
morning stretches and meditation, wood wick candles
pastel colored skies
festive gatherings, weekend hikes, afternoons of baking

I hope you stay warm and dry this month, but also find the joy in not being either of those things, too. :)
